Children love activities that keep their little hands busy and engaged.  They relish art sessions that involve drawing, painting, molding, folding, and generally creating new stuff. You can fuel their creativity and give them meaningful projects via kids Bible crafts. With the numerous characters and events in the Old and New Testaments, you won’t run out of fun, religious ideas for youngsters to try anytime soon.

Examples of noteworthy Bible-inspired art projects are stained glass craft, bookmarks, rosaries, wreaths, candles, character and event collages, mobiles, animal crafts, angels, origami paper creations, 3D figures, and hanging signs.  Older kids will love stringing colorful beads into rosaries, and making bracelets and necklaces with special messages like “God loves me,” “Jesus saves” or with their own names, using special beads with letters. Younger children, like those in preschool, can show their talent and style through thumbprint-filled creations that utilize paper and paint.  They can also make simple but unique projects through leaf rubbing, or draw their own interpretations of the first Christmas and the Nativity scene.

Origins of Baseball

Baseball has originated with somewhat dubious roots. In the late nineteenth century and the early twentieth century, there were claims that Abner Doubleday invented the sport in the 1860s, but there was no actual proof of this proposition. The only proof came from the claims of one man about Doubleday’s creation, but no where in Doubleday’s notes and journals was there ever found any mention of his plans for the game or any instance in which he mentions that he was the creator of the game.

More than likely, the game was created organically through the evolution of bat and ball games. One of the earliest that can be remembered in American history is stickball.  Through this game, many rules, one by one gaining in popularity evolved to create what we know today as baseball.  Stickball itself had its predecessors. The first instance of anything like stickball is noted in Romania in 1364. The game was called Oina. Although its origins remain obscure, baseball has grown into America’s Pastime, with collectors accruing everything from cards and ticket stubs to Bergino baseballs.

Don’t ‘Scrap’ Your Family History

When it comes to family memories, there’s no better place to showcase your pictures, special letters and heirlooms, than in a family scrapbook. While it may seem a challenging task to organize all these items, it’s well worth the while. Imagine how fun it will be years from now, when you and your family members can discuss old times while perusing through the scrapbook. Before you get started on your project, however, you will need some basic scrapbook supplies. These basic scrapbooking supplies will be a necessity when starting on your new scrapbook:

~ Scrapbook album: Choose one that contains acid free pages, or buy acid-free, PVC-free sheet protectors and slide them into a three-ring binder. The size of your scrapbook will depend on your personal preference.
~ Adhesives: These will be used to secure everything to the album pages. Photo corners, photo tape, double-side adhesive strips, and glue sticks are a few options.
~ Scissors: Pick from the straight edge or decorative edge variety. Scissors can be used to cut your photos into decorative shapes, and to crop out any unwanted areas.
~ Journaling pens: Use acid-free permanent markers and pens for writing down important names, dates, and family memories, and for adding designs and pictures to your scrapbooks edges.

Congratulations glove craft project

While browsing the internet, I stumbled upon a fun, creative way to congratulate friends and co-workers. The “congrats glove” is an easy, unique craft that’s appropriate for all ages. All you’ll need to create a congrats glove is: scissors, paper, a work glove, felt, glue, plastic beads, wooden dowel, ribbon, and polyester fiber fill. Remember, a little imagination goes a long way!

Once you have your items, trace the four fingers and palm of the work glove onto a piece of paper. On another sheet of paper trace the thumb. Cut out both tracings; these will be used as your templates. Using the paper templates cut the same shapes out of the felt material. Attach the felt cut outs to the work glove with fabric glue. When the glue is done drying, slide the wooden dowel into the tip of the index finger. Next, stuff the glove using Buffalo Batt and Felt polyester fiber fill. Secure the filling by tightly tying the ribbon around the bottom of the glove and bottom of the dowel. Using beads, glitter, or other art supplies you can decorate the glove as much or as little as you want. For your creativity, your friends are sure to hand it to you!

Preparing for College

When sending your son or daughter off to live on their own at their first year of college, it can be a time of high emotions – and I’m talking about the parents. Just like when you broke down into tears on their first day of kindergarten, parting from your child will always be a heart-wrenching experience. But don’t panic, part of being able to rest assured that you’ve sent them away fully prepared is to make sure they have all the essential tools to survive on their own.

You’ll want to start off with the basics they’ll need for school. A computer, printer, paper, toner printer cartridge, pens and a mechanical pencil and so on are the fundamentals to an organized education. After their schoolwork supplies are covered, it’s time to focus on bedding and bath. Comfy sheets, pillows, blankets and towels will keep them soft, fresh and clean. Slap a few rock-band posters on the wall and call it a day.

When it became time for teacher appreciation day, my daughter wanted to get something special for her favorite teacher. She wasn’t quit sure what it was that she wanted to get. My daughter knew that she didn’t want to get her just a mug.

Her idea was to get something that she could use all year round. She decided on a caran dache pen. That way she could use it in the classroom all year round for years to come. Her teacher was very appreciated of the thoughtful gift that she received. Her teacher still uses it to this day.

Time to Get Serious about Your Home Office

Even if you don’t believe in the principles of feng shui, the layout of your home office should still be a top priority. A clean, tidy workspace is crucial for those who really want to get ahead in the world of online business. Just as a corporate CEO would never put up with a messy floor and a cluttered desktop, you should be treating your office environment with the seriousness it deserves.

Your home office design should reflect your personal preferences. It’s possible to run a successful business with little more than a laptop computer, an Internet connection, a phone line and the willingness to make it all work. Of course you’ll still require all of the usual reliable office supplies that are the bread and butter of the American workplace: pens, paper, a stapler, perhaps even a rolodex if you so desire.

Back to School Business Opportunities

September is here, and that means schools around the country are back in session – or at least they will be very soon. Once the kids are out from underfoot, many stay-at-home moms find themselves with an abundance of time on their hands. With schedules suddenly free and clear, this creates a perfect opportunity to make some extra money. A stay at home mom business can succeed, but it must be treated like a real job.

The first step is to set up a functional work environment, complete with a desk and whatever back to school supplies you’ll need. Make sure that you have reliable Internet access, as most of your business will be conducted online. When the kids come home from school, reinforce the fact that your workspace is off limits. Given enough time and persistence, you’ll be well on your way to operating a successful small business.

For some reason my nephew is obsessed with pencils. The sharper that he can get his pencils the better. He certainly goes through a lot of pencils throughout just the day. It came as no surprise as to what he wanted for a birthday gift.

He asked for a lead pointer. Not just any lead pointer, but a Trupoint lead pointer. He informed me that it was the best in the world. It was very entertaining that he had done all his research to get the best lead pointer.

My daughter loves to pretend that she is back packing around the world. She has a very vivid imagination. If you ask her she has been around the world and back again. She will pack her backpack to the fullest.

I have gone through so many kids backpacks throughout the years. She wears them out with all her imaginary travels. It is quit entertaining to see her climb the Great Wall of China. My daughter is such the world traveler.
